Crook County Chapter Goals and Objectives

This COTA Crook County Trail System Plan will address the need for an easy to navigate cohesive trail system in Crook County that expands the human powered trail opportunities for different skill levels and different trail experiences.  Whenever possible, this system will create opportunities to connect trail heads with one another as well create linking opportunities with the bike and foot pathways throughout the city of Prineville.

The trail system will include easy beginner and some more difficult intermediate trails close to Prineville with the most difficult advanced trails in the Ochoco National Forest, on BLM land and along the Crooked River from Prineville Reservoir to Smith Rock State Park.  This trail system will utilize city of Prineville, Crook County, State and Federal lands as well as easements through privately owned land.

The trail system will focus on biking and foot traffic but we will collaborate with equestrian users to share trailheads and trail corridors when the terrain and soil permit without sacrificing the trail experience for any users.  This plan will not promote trail events or tourism but it is expected that the trail system created will invite others to plan such events and attract visitors to Crook County.
